Male pattern hair loss

Hair Loss Treatment in Upper Saddle River, NJ

Hair loss can feel frustrating, especially when you are unsure what is causing it or which treatments are worth considering. At Atrium Medspa in Bergen County, our hair-loss program begins with a medical evaluation and an individualized treatment plan—not an automatic recommendation for PRP or a procedure package.

Whether you are noticing a receding hairline, thinning at the crown, a widening part, or increased shedding, we can help you explore potential causes and discuss appropriate next steps.

Understanding What Is Causing Your Hair Loss

Not all hair loss has the same cause. Androgenetic alopecia, also called male or female pattern hair loss, is one common explanation. It’s important to rule out other causes, as increased shedding can also occur alongside illness, stress, nutritional deficiencies, thyroid conditions, or other medical concerns that may cause thinning hair. Some scalp conditions require specialized dermatologic evaluation.

Your hair loss consultation at Atrium will focus on your history, pattern of hair loss, scalp concerns, current medications, and treatment goals. Laboratory testing can help evaluate potential contributing factors, but blood work alone does not diagnose every cause of hair loss. If your findings suggest a condition outside the scope of our program, we may recommend additional evaluation or referral.

Your Initial Hair Loss Appointment

The first step is an assessment—not a commitment to a particular treatment. We’ll discuss your concerns, evaluate potential causes of hair loss, and explore treatment options tailored to your needs. At your visit, we will:

  • Review your hair-loss history, health history, and current medications.
  • Evaluate your hair and scalp concerns.
  • Perform blood tests to rule out other potential causes of hair loss.
  • Discuss appropriate treatment options and realistic expectations.
  • Explain follow-up needs and any additional costs.

An Individualized Approach to Hair Loss Treatment

Your treatment plan depends on the suspected cause of hair loss, your medical history, and your preferences. The goal may be to slow further loss, support regrowth where possible, or address a contributing condition.

When appropriate, treatment may include topical or prescription medication. Oral medications and compounded topical options may also be considered for selected patients after discussing their benefits, limitations, and risks.

Depending on your needs, we may discuss low-level light therapy (LLLT), microneedling, or platelet-rich plasma (PRP) as additional options. These are not automatically included in your plan and are not required to participate in the program. Recommendations depend on suitability, available evidence, treatment burden, and cost.

Medications, procedures, and devices are priced separately. We will discuss recommended options and their costs before you decide to proceed.

Hair-loss treatment requires patience, and clients should not expect visible improvements for at least 6 months (sometimes more). Follow-up visits allow us to review your response, discuss concerns or side effects, and adjust your plan when needed. Your clinician will recommend a schedule based on your treatment and monitoring needs. Results vary, and neither hair regrowth nor a specific outcome can be guaranteed.

No subscription or procedure package is required. Medications, additional laboratory testing, procedures, and devices are separate from appointment fees.
